Frederick Fahnley, born in Germany in 1839, immigrated to Ohio in 1854. He organized a successful wholesale millinery firm in Indianapolis in 1865. He married Lena Soehner, a German immigrant. They had two daughters and lived at 350 N. Meridian St.. The home, bought by the Athletic Club, was razed to make room for the club’s new quarters in downtown Indianapolis.
