The Conservation and Preservation Imaging Departments fulfill the Society’s mission to preserve the History of Indiana by establishing and administering policies and services that preserve the collections held within Indiana Historical Society and in collections beyond our walls. Our goal is to provide a professional level of expertise that will benefit the physical needs of collections, from initial examination and handling, provision of customized housings, comprehensive conservation laboratory treatment and reformatting of originals via microfilm, digital scanning or digital conversion. Outreach services to non-profit historical societies, museums and special collection libraries include consultation, treatment and reformatting through our Historic Document Preservation Program.
