IHS Celebrates Women's History Month with Zine Workshop

Just in time for Women's History Month, the Indiana Historical Society (IHS) is hosting a zine workshop. Cut/Paste, presented by Franciscan St. Francis Health, will take place Thursday, March 10, from 7 to 9 p.m., at the Eugene and Marilyn Glick Indiana History Center, located at 450 W. Ohio St. in downtown Indianapolis.

IHS Gives Guests the Chance to Make Bicentennial History with Portrait Exhibition, Three Days of Free Admission
Feb. 23, 2016

The Indiana Historical Society (IHS) is giving guests a chance to make Bicentennial history with the final year of its free event, #300in3. From Friday, March 11 through Sunday, March 13, photographer Tom Styrkowicz will return to the Eugene and Marilyn Glick Indiana History Center, located at 450 W. Ohio St., with the goal of taking at least 300 portraits in just three days.

IHS Explores Home Canning History with New You Are There Exhibition

The newest Indiana Experience offering, You Are There 1948: Communities Can!, explores the impact the Ball Brothers Company from Muncie, Ind., had on the original food preservation movement across the United States. Communities Can! opens March 5, 2016, and runs through Aug. 12, 2017, at the Eugene and Marilyn Glick Indiana History Center, located at 450 W. Ohio St. in downtown Indianapolis.

IHS Issues Call for Judges in Bicentennial Year NHDI Contests

The Indiana Historical Society (IHS) is issuing a call for volunteer judges to take part in the 2016 National History Day in Indiana (NHDI) contests. Judges are needed at four regional competitions in Notre Dame, Ind. (Feb. 27), Indianapolis (March 12), Evansville, Ind. (April 2) and Nashville, Ind. (April 9). IHS also is recruiting judges for the state competition on Saturday, April 23, at Ivy Tech's campus in downtown Indianapolis.
