Civil War Hits Home for Hoosiers with New IHS Exhibit

The Indiana Historical Society (IHS) invites guests to experience the battle that changed the course of the Civil War with its newest exhibit, You Are There 1863: Letter Home from Gettysburg. The exhibit opens Sept. 23 and runs through Jan. 19, 2019, at the Eugene and Marilyn Glick Indiana History Center, located at 450 W. Ohio St. in downtown Indianapolis.

IHS President and CEO John Herbst Honored with AMM Distinguished Career Award

The Indiana Historical Society (IHS) announces that its President and CEO, John A. Herbst, has been awarded the Association of Midwest Museum's (AMM's) 2017 Distinguished Career Award. Each year, AMM presents the Distinguished Career Award to an individual who has worked or volunteered in the museum industry for more than 10 years and made significant contributions to the field.

The exhibition, The Harley Shop: Seventy Years of Indianapolis Southside Harley-Davidson, runs July 22 through Sept. 9, at the Eugene and Marilyn Glick Indiana History Center, located at 450 W. Ohio St. in downtown Indianapolis.

Free Fun on the Fourth at the Indiana History Center

The Indiana Historical Society (IHS) invites guests to enjoy a free day of fun and music in downtown Indianapolis, ahead of the city's Fourth of July fireworks. The Eugene and Marilyn Glick Indiana History Center, home of IHS and the Indiana Experience, will host a special edition of its Concerts on the Canal series, plus introduce Indiana Olympics.

Hoosier Students Make Mark at National Contest for National History Day

The Indiana Historical Society (IHS) proudly announces eight Hoosier students are coming home with awards after competing at the National Contest for National History Day (NHD). The Indiana delegation of 60 students competed against 3,000 other students from across the country and from international schools around the world.
