This collection consists of three letters, two original and one facsimile, written from 1786 to 1795. A listing follows:
20 May 1786 GW, Mt. Vernon, to Mr. Charton, [Philadelphia]. Describes his lands on the Ohio and Kanawha Rivers total 32,373 acres, which he would be willing to sell for 30,000 guineas. Would be willing to give Charton letters to la Fayette and la Luzerne, "but conceive they could only have a negative operation. ALS 9p
14 April 1789 GW, Mt. Vernon, to Jno Langdon. Secretary Thompson has given me your letter. It is important for me to meet with Congress as soon as possible. I am leaving here day after tomorrow. ALS 1p (facsimile)
4 October 1795 GW, Mt. Vernon, to Genl. Spotswood, [Fredericksburgh]. I meant to say that I could not conceive that Gen. Lee would intend to make a double sale of the Kentucky lands. I told Gen. Lee that I had written the same thing to Maj. George Lewis, who was to be an umpire between Lee and me re: my lands on Rough Creek on Green River. Mrs. W. joins me in sending regards to Mrs. Spotswood. ALS 3p
