BIOGRAPHiCAL SKETCH

Todd Rockstroh was born 29 November 1919 in Illinois.  His parents were Charles W. Rockstroh (born 19 April 1883) and Grace Ethel Syester (born 5 December 1888), who married in Martin County, Indiana, on 16 December 1915.  Todd had a sister Beatrice, three years his senior.  In 1920 the Rockstrohs lived in Mount Carmel, Illinois.  In 1930, they lived in Terre Haute, where they were neighbors of Birch Bayh, Jr., then age 2.  There is a portrait of Todd as a young man that indicates that he lived in Seymour, Ind., and two others of him as a young man that were taken in Indianapolis.  His last home was in Terre Haute.  He died on 1 December 1993.

SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE

The donor of this collection of six images had received these photographs along with others from a relative, and  gave these six to the Indiana Historical Society because they were images of people not related to her.

Series 1, Portraits of Todd Rockstroh, ca. late 1930s–1940s:  This series consists of three portraits of Todd Rockstroh as a young man.  Two were taken in Indianapolis, and the third may have been taken in Seymour, Ind.  One is a full-length portrait.

Series 2, Unidentified Photographs, ca. 1910s, n.d.:  This series includes three images that may or may not be related to Todd Rockstroh.  The people, locations, and dates are all unknown.  One is of two girls, a man, and a woman by a brick building.  Another is of an older couple outside a brick building.  The third is a half-tone print of a 25-member band with musical instruments.
