Mary Ann (“Annie”) Wright was born 1 June 1848 in Ohio. Her father, Edward Wright, was born in Highland County, Ohio, in 1816. He came to Randolph County, Indiana, in 1817 as a baby. He became a farmer and on 21 December 1837 married Mary Ann Heaston, whom he had known since childhood. The couple had five children, including their daughter Mary Ann, called Annie, who was born on 1 June 1848. Annie’s father was a pillar of the community and was a deputy sheriff and the deputy county clerk of Randolph County.
Annie married John Romizer on 27 January 1867. She had several children including Helen and Maxwell. Her husband helped the Wright family with their farm. Annie and her family lived in Winchester, Ind., where she was an active member of the community. She was a petitioner for a charter for the Winchester Chapter No. 60, Order of the Eastern Star.
Annie Romizer spent her spare time baking pies and writing in her diaries. Her daughter Helen and granddaughter Doreen moved in with her after Helen got a divorce. Annie’s son Maxwell, a blacksmith and volunteer firefighter, lived with his mother and sister. Annie had a large extended family that included nieces and nephews and grandchildren. She lived into the 1930s.
